Sometimes I wonder why
these are called the golden years
when there is no gold
only fears,
and a lot of tears.

Then I intone a prayer
revealed by Baha'u'llah,
and both the tears
and the fears
are transformed
when I realize
these tests are polishing
the mirror of my soul.
