For the Soundtrack of Your Life Challenge |
Well, if you've been reading along, this would be another of the top three -- along with LeAnne Rimes -- who I'd love to have sing to me. There is something about her voice, it's soft yet a bit gravelly. In my head it sounds like life hasn't been an easy road, but she's still strong and has her head up. This is one of my favorites. It's a love ballad, and a sad one at that. So one might ask how this belongs in the "Guilty Pleasures" category. My answer to that is I listen to this by myself, and I love my solitude, but it let's me release a little emotion. Not many people ever see that. This stanza just gets me, because I get it. He's like a boxer who had to retire After winning but killing a man He's got all the moves and none of the courage Afraid to throw a punch that might land. My wife has seen it from time to time, and she thinks it's funny. What she doesn't understand is it's an outlet for me. If I didn't let it out on old love songs and movies, I might spend half the time looking back and being sad about parts of my own life. I thing my way is pretty healthy. Especially since I am very introspective anyway, and have made my peace with most everything by now. |
