Colors of Dawn
Colors of Dawn
Morning chalks the firmament with color;
pink against the rose-white sky
that deepens
into lilac-blue,
as dawn breaks
over Sunrise Mountain,
and crowns the crest in glory.
Is it winter or summer,
spring or autumn?
The difference in hue
is subtle--
almost non-existent--
to my physical eyes,
but not to those of my spirit.
On the vernal equinox,
I see the crown of glory
ignite the peak in splendor,
and I intone the Most Great Name of God.

Practice Exercise: Now it’s time to light the fuse and let your imagination explode into a cataclysm of color. Write about some color that impresses you, either favorably or unfavorably. Since this is a creativity workshop, give your imagination free rein to interpret “color” either literally (red, blue, hot pink) or figuratively (the color of pain, joy, anger). Whatever strikes your spark.
Written For "~ The Poet's Place Cafe~" .
The vernal equinox is Naw-Ruz, the Baha'i New Year.
