Evening Prayers: Two Poems
Evening Prayers:
I
In the privacy of my chamber,
in the silence of my abode,
in the tranquility of certitude
we meet spirit to spirit
and soul to soul.
Together we walk through paradise,
beneath the Tree of Life,
and s peak in the language of love.
You hear my prayer,
You know my needs,
You see my sins and my strengths,
You whisper to my trembling soul,
You show me the path that I should go.
I am alone, but not alone;
I am the one who need forgiveness;
I am a child who hears
the terror of old memories
and unforgiven desires.
I would strive to keep Your laws,
if only I could not see my flaws;
I focus on my unworthiness,
but You know me better than I know myself;
You see me writing,
You know my thoughts.
II
Joy flows
from brain cell to brain cell,
as I read the words
revealed by the Pen of Glory.
Prayer by prayer
the lights of happiness
come on
illuminating
the power
of the revealed Word of God.
