she asked me:
what is love?
and I paused,
trying to describe
chocolate brown
hugs, and harmonic silvers
singing together,
and dragon green words
flowing together,
and sharing peals
of sunrise gold and pink
laughter--together.
finally, I explained:
when it has just rained
over a desert
and breaking through clouds
comes our sun’s ginger yellow heat,
baking it dry again,
that’s when our world smells
blue like love:
it’s a blue of clear skies.
