Marauding Crowds
I find myself wanting to curl into feral position
As I drive past the Super Centre
This mad rush Spending time marauding
Cutting others off
Fighting the battle
To find just the right thing.
All of it scares me.
I find it funny that all this happens
After everyone gives thanks
When families are gathered to feast
On time honoured traditions
And indulge in watching football.
I guard my heart and my handbag
As I venture into the grocery store
To buy a few items that have run out.
All I really want to do it hide away
And let Cyber Monday
Become a distant memory
As I thank God
I started my Christmas hunting
Back in May
When no one was even thinking
About the holidays.
