Only Got One Part Done Today

Despite what the title for this Blog entry says, I consider this a good day for my Introduction Chapter for my Jessica Strong novel. It’s true I have only done one part for this chapter, but it’s the first part for this novel. Which I consider the most important part of any novel. How a novel determines whether a novel will want to be read or not. I’m a big believer in that. That’s why it took me almost my whole shift at work to get it done. I want this novel to be read.

I’m also a believer in hooking your audience, readers, right from the beginning. I try to do that whether I’m writing a Short Story, a novel, or a script. It also doesn’t matter if it’s Science Fiction, a Mystery, Action/Adventure, Horror/Scary, etc. the only difference is what kind of a hook it is. When it comes to Action/Adventures, like these novels are, I like to start them with some Action. That’s one of the reasons why it took me so long to get this first part done. I had some trouble getting this done. In fact, it took me about an hour to get this part of part one done. Once I got that done the rest of it, kind of flowed. It just took me some time to do it.

Will I get the other four parts done this weekend? I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to do it or not, but I’ve got a good chance of doing it. I have done it with the Introduction Chapter for my Wandita novel. So, I can get this one done too. At least I hope that I can. If not, I should be able to get two, hopefully, three of the parts, done this weekend. That will leave one or two for me to do on my days off. By then I should have this one done too. Unless I change my mind about converting Times New Roman to Courier or I decide to shorten the Times New Roman by eight lines per part so that it’s ten pages chapters instead of an eleven page one.

At the rate that these Introduction Chapters are going, I’ll be lucky if I get two Chapters done this year. Which is twice as good than last year. In fact, it’s about four to five times as better because the total Word Count for these novels are more than doubled what they were last year. Last year they were about thirty-five hundred. So, far the Wandita Introduction Chapter is a little over eight thousand. I figure that the Jessica Strong Introduction Chapter will be about the same, give or take a little. It also means that If I was more organized that I might be able to get the fifty thousand words for NaNoWriMo after all. Maybe next year I will. That doesn’t mean I have given up on getting these novels published. I still plan on doing that.
