November the second - Another Day Missed
Another Day Missed

This time I didn’t do it yesterday on purpose. Not because I didn’t want to do it, but it was the last day of October. No, it’s not because it’s Halloween. It’s because it’s the last day of the October NaNoWriMo Prep Challenge. I thought that I needed to finish my third Outlines for the two novels I am working on this year. Well, not exactly finish them, but sort of doing it. What I mean by this is that I wrote my Outlines for the first sixteen Chapters. The other twenty-six Chapters are only one-sentence Chapters.

As it turned out I didn’t need to update them because the Prep Challenge for this year is over. That’s not my only reason for not doing it yesterday, but it is related to it. After someone commented on my novels being a novella instead of a novel I did a search on Word Counts between the two. I found out that most novels are between eighty to one hundred thousand words. That means that NaNoWriMo expects us to write at least half of a novel in one month. I don’t know if anyone else can do that or not, but I can’t. I’m going to participate in NaNoWriMo again this year, but I’m not going to kill myself to write fifty thousand.

My new goal is to do better than I did last year. That shouldn’t be too hard since I only done one Chapter last year. If today is any indication I should be able to do at least two Chapters. I’m hoping that I can do three or four of them. That’s not even close to the fifty thousand that they expect me to write. Yes, I know I am the one who decided to do it, but they are the ones who set that goal for an award to those who reach it. So, I do blame them. I also blame myself too. Will this prevent me from participating in this next year? No, it won’t. Unless I’m not invited back to it after this Blog entry. I just will already know I’m not going to get anywhere near fifty thousand. The best I will be able to do is do better than I did this year.
