On the Cusp

On the cusp of the writer's race
fill the words with the greatest grace.
NaNoWriMo is the name.
Every year we're glad we came.

Twenty minutes and we're off
to a new land. None should scoff.
Write a book in 30 days
for a bookstore's new displays.

Can we do it? Yes, we can
by our NaNoPrep's own plan.
New the characters we write.
Some are uffish. Some are bright.

Drinking coffee and our tea
will our thoughts quite fully free.
When the turkey at last we baste
may victory all writer's taste.

Now, switch we thoughts from rhyme to prose
that wondrous stories we compose.
Success to one! Success to all!
And mostly, let's just have a ball!
