Diner of Despair
We found a dingy roadside diner and stopped to get out of the rain. Inside only one customer sat at the counter. The waitress looked rather bored.

"This will have to do." Charlie said, "The storm is getting worse."

"Coffee will warm us up." I said as I glanced over at the waitress, but she had turned her back on us.

"Excuse me," he said several times but she didn't turn to acknowledge him.

When she did look at him her eyes were glassy and vacant.

"Uh..." I heard Charlie say.

I wasn't sure what the problem was, but the hair on my arms began to stand on end.

I kept my eyes glued to Charlie. His eyes were wide in fear.

I reached for his hand. He was ice cold.

"We have to get out of here." He whispered, but didn't move.

I pulled his hand, then his arm. He didn't move. It was like he was fused to the floor.

"I can't move, Emma. You go, please. Take the keys. It's not safe..."

"Not without you."

"Go, Emma!"

I gave him one more hard yank, but it was like he had turned to stone.

It was then that I heard the snarl behind me. My body froze.

"Go Emma!" Charlie yelled. This time I listened.

Outside the rain slashed at me and the wind blew strong and I could barely make it into the car. Just as I slammed the door. The storm seemed to turn violent and evil. I started up the engine and roared out of the lot, glancing back I saw the diner disintegrate. The storm ripped it up and carried it off. Taking poor Charlie with it.
