Feeling Right Every Day! |
Copied from an email to a friend: (Be careful with autistic children because they are attracted to water...) Jonah, my autisitc son, (great name, right!) takes swimming lessons through his school. He certainly requires a lot of supervision. He is eleven now and almost potty trained. We have to watch him very closly or he will pee all over the floor. Often, one of his tells is when he starts laughing..."Get on the potty! Now!!!" And it is too late many a time by then. I think I have mentioned he is tube fed? Most of is sustanance comes from liquid which goes directly into a tube in is belly. Sounds scary but it is really a life saver. He does eat now, but not enough to sustain him. Good news just today: he had a swallow study done (yes, today) and the liquids are going where they are supposed to. Last time it showed him asperating. (Liquids in the lungs, bad) So, yay! He has a therapist for feeding again. In general, Jonah doesn't speak very much. He isn't in a proper grade and progress is slow. I've come to understand that life isn't about what you know, but perhaps it is more about a willingness to love and live it. Make sense? Thank you for the great weekend wish. I did. I mostly puttered around cleaning up the yard and such, but I had fun. Went out to eat after church and the Mother-in-Law paid for it. That was nice. Course, I did put new parachord in her sun chair. I guess those things are pretty expensive? New cat in the yard, I don't remember if I mentioned naming it FRED? Stands for Feeling Right Every Day. Good choice reminder... |
