Being a Father

My dad was not a perfect man,
nor shall I ever be,
But love from heart I understand
for others and for me.

A father works and hopes and dreams,
while pouring out his days.
Success is often more than seems,
unseen, without displays.

My dad spent many years on Earth,
his guidance quite sincere,
But now my mem'ry knows his worth
with hopeful love still clear.

The days of leading progeny
go swiftly on a pace
in hopes, she'll fondly think of me,
within her heart a place.

The merits of a father's term
of office in this world
are seen in truth that grows from germ,
and Honor's flag unfurled.
