Thankful Thursday: Preemptive Gratitude
Istijlál (Majesty), 3 Núr (Light) 175 B.E. - Thursday, June 7, 2018
"Be thou happy and well pleased and arise to offer thanks to God, in order that thanksgiving may conduce to the increase of bounty."
Abdu’l-Baha, 12
Preemptive Gratitude
I just finished reading an inspiring article on BaahiTeaching.org3 by Kathy Roman titled "The Power of Preemptive Gratitude"4. Preemptive gratitude is the practice of giving thanks for something that we need before we receive. Before reading this article, I never thought about giving thanks for something before I receive it. However, after reading the article and meditating on the quote from Abdu’l-Baha, I realize that we are supposed to thank the Almighty for the things we have received, as well as those items we need and have not yet received.
O Lord,
thank you,
