I have tried to summarize my observation with vivid and simple manner. |
I couldn't even imagine this kind of problem exist in our country. ten years back i got an intelligent young house maid from a small village Jharkhand India. I saw her intelligences in various day to day life. Even at free time she prefers to read some books in Hindi which I provided her. When I asked why she left her school. She said she wanted to study more and wanted to become a big officer, as she liked Maths so much..But unfortunately went upto 5th standard, only and couldnt continue further due to no toliet in school. Girls couldnt go to open field like boys due to fear of sexual molestation. She even told me that many times young girls and women got molested, teased and raped (which never got reported) due to such open field morning action. I was shocked and couldn't even imagine, in this era of so much advancement our villages still struggling with such a basic problems! Had this girl be given even toilet facility she would be studying now. There might be many such girls who could not get educated. So it was indeed a big issue. I felt happy that at least at certain point government realized this basic need is a burning issue, and also wonder why it was not taken previously! Today more than three crore toilets already built in villages. Village societies are told in various seminars about how to maintain regular cleanliness. For some it can be a tiny issue but as i felt and seen from my own eyes it was indeed a big issue. Whichever political party system a government belongs, good and thoughtful works must be appreciated by all with open heart!! |
