Times of Waiting for the Hurried Soul

These times of waiting make me stop
when I would rather go.
My strongest prayers won't make God hop,
while lesson makes me grow.

The pace of life I long to live
was back in forebears' time.
Their days seemed full of peace to give
when sunset was sublime.

Yet, times before technology
were filled with grueling tasks.
Dear Papa was asleep in chair
before his supper'd passed.

The disciplines of taking time
to wait, to think, to hear
are needed now before we climb
into the bed so dear.

Our lives are an amusement park
with noise from wall to wall.
One wonders if God dared to bark,
would we then hear His Call?

Sometimes a cold will lay us prone
or broken bone to mend.
Then Lord may hand Divinest phone
our inner man to tend.

Sometimes we beg and cry and wail,
"Why don't you talk to me?"
"Why don't you listen without fail
to words so plain to see?"

The Quiet is a music note,
unheard in daily din,
but focus on The Word God wrote
will hear the sound within.
