Rainy Days & Mondays
How sweet to hear dear Karen's voice
upon the radio!
The songs of youth were my first choice.
What love for her would grow!
Her "Rainy Days & Mondays" oft
would deeply resonate!
The words rang true, so gentle, soft.
Her thoughts were helpful, great!
But yesterday saw heavy rain
that cut the internet,
And Monday makes us look to gain
a newer source to get.
The truth I know is sad sometimes
that rainy days may be
The source of bitterness in climes
That cloud the life we see.
The weather may be rough like this
to rain on my parade,
yet Monday's sun has come to kiss
the blues that Sunday made.
The Carpenters may be no more.
Their songs in time be froze,
but little sister still adore
the fans her face still knows.
"Thinking of her songs and feeling' old,
Sometimes I have to admit,
"Life without her is a bit
like sighings abound.
"She still wears the crown
Rainy days and Mondays without her get me down."
Apologies to Richard for the try,
but true heart's sad that Karen's voice...Goodbye.
We thank you for the mem'ries, Lady Fair.
We hope some day to meet you in the air.
The rain is gone. The sun is out.
New hope is in the air.
These words have come. Removed the doubt
and eyes have lifted stare.
So many voices in the world,
yet none can ever beat
The velvet tones that Karen sang
to help new week to greet.
