Doing My Best

At times I do the best I can
without resulting good.
Is there another helpful plan
to finish as I would?

To act, to write, to serve my world
remains a job most hard.
Saluting other flags unfurled
my friends my hopes have marred.

An actor's life has ups and downs.
Some days the part is yours,
But other days of hanging frowns
your sadness heart just stores.

Your resumé shows talent lives,
when ev'ry play you tried
Resulted in some part that gives
you joy and bit of pride.

But last three times you tried to land
a part results were small,
For two were meager, rather bland
and one was not at all.

The words of Ron Hamilton
are said so very well,
"Do right until the stars all fall
though 'lone you stand to tell."

The right is always right to do.
Results are with The Lord.
He'll make your last state ever new.
It's written in His Word.

Down here we live and sometimes fail
though fault is not our own.
The fire the silver must assail
to purify the tone.

"Not Fair!" is quite the sword we wield,
when youthful hearts are sad.
We must remind ourselves to yield
or quickly we'll grow mad.

The Son of God, the sinless Man
was lifted on the cross
to die and raise again by Plan
to save us from all loss.
