Vague echoes
of yesterday's mistakes
raise their untidy voices to shout
the sinfulness
of being average
in a world inhabited
by narcissistic perfectionist.

The only umbrella
an ordinary individual has
is the quiet,
steadfast confidence
of wisdom gained
through the independent
search for knowledge
and truth.
