I had to descend into the canyons,
Guarded by the dragon of insistent-self,
That protected the teachings of dogma,
That came between my soul and its salvation,
Only through prayer and meditation,
Could I answer my spirit's questions.
Reading the scriptures raised the questions,
That would lead me beyond these canyons,
Through the unlocked doors of meditation,
Feared by the monster of my insistent-self,
Who wants to limit my spirit's access to salvation,
To the blind-uncritical acceptance of dogma.
As one by one the veils of dogma,
Are burned with the answers to my questions,
My soul gets closer to the light of its salvation,
And prayer by prayer I advanced through canyons,
Seeking to tame the dragon of insistent-self,
In the silence of my meditation.
