The Seven Deadly … Resolutions The calendar has flipped a page and a new year has set the stage for making changes in my life … at least according to my wife. Gluttony's on top my list; too many snacks I can’t resist. Twenty pounds, my final goal … starting after the Super Bowl. Next up would be to work on greed I really have all I could need – 'til Publisher’s knocks at my door. There’s always room for a bit more. Pride is one I think is sneaky. I feel, at times, "how great is me!" Perhaps that feeling is uncouth – but then I think it’s just the truth. I just re-read the one above; perhaps a touch too much self-love? I feel my anger rising up but wrath is not my favorite cup. Envy’s really not my style – when others brag, I simply smile. Still, I suppose I've felt its sting – but just a graze, not a big thing. I’d like to think that lust is still a part of me. The bitter pill is at this stage of my long life – the lust I feel is for my wife. That leaves just sloth and so I vow that I’ll work hard .... and anyhow, my wife won’t let me gather moss. She’s trained me well on who’s the boss! The deadly sins mostly have died; at least in that I can take pride; they stood no chance against my bride.
