Light Versus Darkness

Light and darkness,
yang and yin1,
are part of the duality
of the nature of humanity.

We are dual natuared creatures,
possessing a physical body
and a spiritual soul,
who live in the whirlpool
of matter,
until the moment of physical death
when our souls ascend into the spiritual world
and our bodies go into the ground.

Light versus darkness;
the darkness is comforting
and inactive,
while the light
is energetic
and nurturing--
encouraging activity
and growth.

In the darkness
we do not have to strive
or struggle,
but the light forces us
to achieve our best.
