These Are My JOTtings...

Embracing My Best

The best of me shows how I'm made.
I can't be best of you.
My talents often are displayed.
How lovely when I'm through!

But Truth be known I'm tempted, though,
to be dissatisfied
With what in me's...the best I know,...
to better...How I've tried!

Why is this such a human flaw
to lack humility?
We let this stick within our craw,...
desire the best we see.

To strive to stretch and better be
brings honor, I would say...
For practice gives us strength that we
would have more to display.

But some things aren't within our grasp
as humble souls admit.
I cannot move as smooth as asp.
My belly begs me, "Quit!"

I cannot make a puppet talk
as little Darci Lynne.
I may yet make it to the chalk,
but wonder, "Could I win?"

I've run a marathon before,
and two I did complete,
But body type I must explore
were I to hope repeat!

Well, AGT and finish line
do not persona make
For daily tasks and fam'ly mine
all love the strides I take.

Be satisfied with who you are,
with gifts God's given you,
For when we reach for yonder star,
we'll find more's done when through.
