Once Upon a Time (B&W Final Cut #21)
134 words, 32 lines
Free verse
my most creative moments
were when I was four
playing my game
when out the door
was thrown all shame,
for I had a large following
of cousins, with no buts or ifs,
since their minds I could swing
to veiled mischiefs
I was in good company
and happy, knowing, life is a party,
the world my clam
and its pearl I am
and if chronicled and caught
and I’d be on the fence,
I could hurl silence or
push riddles as my defense
“Who broke the glass?”
-‘A helicopter crashed through it’
my answers would be as such,
intensely hyperbolic with
guttural shrieks
commissioned colic,
and puckered reckoning
and today,
when as a family, we meet
and the past is unfurled,
the memories of
my feats and fame
are still recalled
