Thunderstorm in Gotham City

The flamboyant echoes
of the late night thunderstorm
reverberates through the cryptic silence
of the inner city streets.

Flashes of lightning illuminate
the pickled facades
of abandoned apartment buildings
begging for new tenants.

A stray cat,
her radical emerald eyes blazing
with anticipation,
stalks the empty streets.

Each cryptic flash of lightning reveals
the typical tiny rodent
footprints that haunts this section
of Gotham City,
but it is neither the city's
rats nor bats
that the Queen of the Cats
is hunting.

She is on the prowl
for a cat burglar
by the name of Lucifer,
and neither thunder,
lightning,
nor rain
will turn her from her prey.
