Song of The Wayfarer
Song of The Wayfarer:
To The Blessed Beauty
I'm the seeker in the valley of search,
I'm the lover seeking the beloved,
I'm the wayfarer searching for truth.1
I intone my supplications to God,
I ask for the strength to continue on
even though the road is rough
and my vigor wains with the setting sun.
I am the seeker in the Valley of Search,
I am the lover seeking the beloved,
I am the wayfarer searching for truth.
I push forward through rain, heat, and snow,
I ignore the detours that would lead me astray,
I pray at dawn, and noon, and dusk,
Asking the Lord for assistance and succor.
I am the seeker in the Valley of Search,
I am the lover seeking the beloved,
I am the wayfarer searching for truth.
I got the idea for this poem from "48-Hour Challenge July 14-16, 2017" in "Snow Scribbles" . I rewrote that poem for "It's My Life" in "Bicentenary Poems and Prose" . When I finished the rewrite there were some line about one of the Seven Valleys that I did not use. I decided to rewrite those lines making them a poem about a song. This is Poem 67 of 200 Dedicated the The Blessed Beauty.
Footnotes 1 These are the lines I decided to rewrite into a longer poem.
