Tuesday, July 18, 2017 I am who I am An individual human Trying to be me The Talk Tuesday prompt for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" I'm going to a writing workshop at my local library this Tuesday. Tell us about some of your writing experiences outside of WDC. Have you ever attended a workshop or taken a writing class? Have you ever participated in a writing group, or read to an audience? What was it like? Anything you can tell people who haven't done it before (or haven't done it in a long time)? Poetry Workshop: A Bonding Experience In the pursuit of perfection, I participated in a poetry workshop at the West Las Vegas library. It was on a Saturday afternoon, when Mom didn't have to work, so Mom went with me. Mom wrote poetry and I wrote poetry, it was a bonding experience unlike any before. When I miss Mom, the poetry workshop we took, has become a comforting memory that brings smiles among the tears of loneliness. The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise" prompt for DAY 1221 Do you think being oneself can be a brave act? Under what kinds of circumstances would we be afraid to be ourselves? Being Yourself: An Act of Bravery Being yourself is an act of bravery at all times and under all conditions. We live in a culture where everyone is attempting to be somebody else or something else than what they really are. Sometimes it is deliberate because the individuals do not want others to know who they really are. Sometimes it is a fear reaction because the individuals are afraid to be themselves. I suspect there are numerous reason people do not want to be themselves, but in many cases it could be social pressure. We live in a society that encourages people to be themselves while encouraging them to conform. It is impossible to do both simultaneously. |
