Unsettled

         inspired by Meg Moseman

Unseen, unknown, unburning,
you came to me...
a darkness snuffing flame.
I hid my embers
and sought to know my enemy.
In the blackness I could barely
touch your void,
a deeper dark rejection.
I offered light; you cringed.
I offered sight; you shuddered.
To know you would be to lose myself.
Half-full, half-empty,
my inner being sought
to bring forth a flame.
