Honored in Sacrifice,...Memorial Day, 2017

Today we honor those who gave all
in the fight for the freedom of family and country.
There is nothing "happy" about this day.

The words to describe this day
are more akin to
honored, blessed, worthy sacrifice
and gratitude
for those who gave their last breath
in defense of those they love.

Memorial Day was officially designated
as the last Monday in May in the year 1968
and every year following
in the United States of America.

To everyone in freedom-loving countries
around the world,
who has lost a loved one
in military service,
I hope their memory will be cherished today
as you read my tribute
to the men and women,
who have died in worthy causes.
