Gender Specific Toys

When I was a child parents purchased gender specific toys for children. My sister and I got dolls while my brothers received toy guns or soldiers. When I went anywhere, summer or winter, I carried a Betsy Wetsy with her bottle full of some sort of liquid. I carried that doll until her belly rotted out from all the liquid she drank. Betsy was one of my favorite dolls, but then all of my dolls at one time or another were my favorites. I can't say I missed playing with the toys that my brothers had because I never thought I was missing anything.
