Patterns (Missoula, April 2017)
Patterns

One can wander down Higgins, mountains in snow-mist, streets barely wet. Or one could cruise in a car, bike down a lane on handle-bars. The point is:

You could be here.

Ponderosa pines would whisper to your face. Ignore them. A Hellgate wind could whistle through your hair. Ignore it too.

I'm here.

Standing before you.

I'd show you the coffee caverns, the micro-brew taverns, street patterns aligned with the sun, aligned with the river, like argyle... aligned with who-knows-what.

Not all lines are straight here.

Some bend to the bottle, others to whatever gender you want.

"We embrace all here!"

Yet, we do not...

...we cherish a way of life that will include you... if we want or if we must.

I would wander with you down Higgins, pass by Hellgate High, take a left down University to the university, climb Mt. Sentinel to the "M". From there we could gaze towards Idaho...

glazing over the insane patterns of my life.
