The Saga of Prosperous Snow Continues |
Thursday, March 9, 2017 The Wildcard Thursday prompt for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" ![]() Tell us about a time when something that has basically always been a detriment to you turned out to be really useful. I Am A Survivor My childhood was a mix of good and terrifying events. I encountered bullies in Grade School and Junior High (middle school). I dealt with sexual and verbal abuse as a teenager. I dealt with gossip in High School (I suspect none of my high school classmates remember that). It was detrimental at the time it occurred and for a number of years afterwords. I have learned to let go and, in most cases, forgive. I can't say I've forgiven everyone, but I'm working on it. I am working on forgiveness because it strengthens my soul and helps me let go. These detrimental events have turned into useful fodder for my poems, stories, and essays. Writing has helped me find an outlet for my anger and fear. Sometimes it's difficult to push beyond either; however, through prayer, meditation and persistence I can eventually write about those events which means I'm letting go of them. Letting go of the past is an important part of forgiveness. Letting go doesn't mean you forget what happened it just means you're maturing as a spiritual individual. |
