My daily devotional insights... and reflections. |
This morning let's meditate briefly on the love of God. He demonstrates His love for us in scripture: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ~John 3:16 ...but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~Romans 5:8 Jesus was and is the most perfect demonstration of God's love for us. But how do we incorporate His love into our lives? And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. ~Romans 5:5 This says to me that we cannot manufacture, conjure up the love of God in our hearts; it happens supernaturally by the power of the Spirit of God. When I ask that His love in me be increased, I think of Romans 5:5 because a deepening of His love in me must be wrought by Him. When Jesus walked the earth---in His earthly ministry---we see that before every action He was moved with compassion; He operates the same way through us. When we are moved with compassion, our prayers become effectual and fervent---as do our words thoughts and deeds. The power of God manifests---is moved and operates---via compassion. We seek your face today, Lord God. May Your perfect love fill us, be ever increasing and manifest through every thought, word and action today and forever. Amen. |
