Writing Classroom: Synonyms
"Writing Classroom: SynonymsOpen in new Window.

Writing Classroom has spent two of the past four days discussing homonyms, those words that sound the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings. Today's Writing Classroom lesson is on synonyms. Synonyms are words that are different and spelled different but have the same or similar meaning. The words "little" "small" and "petite" for example are synonyms. The assignment is to find two or more synonyms and use them in sentences, stories, or poems. Here are mine:

The baby puppy was very beautiful.

The small kitten was so cute.

The baby bird was very pretty.
