Do schools value digital skills? When I was in school there were no such things as digital skills. Computers were the size of trailers in those days if they existed at all. Most people thought of them only as something from a science fiction movie. Hand held calculators were considered very high tech. Telephones hung on the wall or sat on desks and you had to turn a dial to dial them. So if a person had any digital skills when I was in school, the school probably couldn't afford to deal with them anyway.
Nowadays even the very young must have these skills. Children only learn to print now because everything is done on a computer anyway. My son can do in thirty seconds what I can not figure out in a week.
