Teach History?
"Teach History?Open in new Window.

One of the best ways i ever found to learn history is writing about it. When I was in the tenth grade I took the crazy notion into my head that I was going to write a history text book. I wrote on it for nearly a year. Of course I was young at the time and didn't realize that publishers had stringent requirements I couldn't possibly meet. My teacher however knew that i would learn. The best way to learn anything is to teach it to others. By writing a text book I was planning to teach. So she let me go and encouraged me every step of the way. I made it through the Civil War before giving up. I had learned a lot by then. In many ways I often found myself in some Civil War battle. I could smell the musket smoke and hear the screams of the wounded. So the best way to learn history is to teach it.
