"Smart Bombs Stupid Chidren" 

I often wonder any more how students learn anything in school? When I was yong our first class in the morning started at 7: 30 AM and the last class of the day ended at 4:00 PM. We had 1/2 hour for lunch. Now students start class at 8: 30 or even 9:00 AM in some schools, have an hour for lunch, and are dismissed for the day at 2: 30! Essentially the school day is 3-4 hours shorter than it was when i was a child. A lot of it has to do with funding. Schools don't have the budgets they once had. The comedian Eddie Murphy once joked about defense spending surpassing education spending. He said we had "smart bombs and stupid children". I tend to understand why that might be true!
