LOVE - November 30

Let's ponder the "love" of God this morning... For God's love in our hearts manifests itself and distinguishes us from the world through our love of God, ourselves and others.

You are precious to Him...

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.…" ~John 3:16&17

"But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." ~Romans 5:8

"Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." ~1 Peter 4:8

"Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all transgressions." ~Proverbs 10:12

"He who conceals a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates intimate friends." ~Proverbs 17:9

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." ~1 Corinthians 13:4 (Read the entire chapter as 1 Corinthians 13 is know as the "love" chapter.)

"...consider this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and cover over a multitude of sins." ~James 5:20

"Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth, so that you have a genuine love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from a pure heart." ~1 Peter 1:22

"…A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” “Lord, where are You going?” Simon Peter asked. Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you cannot follow Me now, but you will follow later.”… ~John 13:34-36

"Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him.…" ~1 John 4:7-9

"By this the children of God and the children of the devil can be distinguished: Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is anyone who does not love his brother." ~1 John 3:10

"And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him." ~1 John 4:16

A demonstration of love towards others:

"But to those of you who will listen, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone takes your cloak, do not withhold your tunic as well.…" ~Luke 6:27-29 (See also 1 Kings 13:6; Matthew 5:44; Luke 6:35; Romans 12:14; and 1 Peter 3:9.)

"And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." ~Romans 5:5

The closer you press in to God, the more your character will be transformed into His image; that is, the image of "love." The bible is a book of "love."

Oh how He loves us...
