Thanksgiving, Christmas, Thankful

Blog City Prompt: At the root of joy is gratitude and both abound in this annual autumn repast. From far and wide, loved ones gather to share a simple banquet with those they love. I love Christmas but I feel stores start putting Christmas items out way too early and we need to remember Thanksgiving and give it, it's day. Black Friday should start Friday not Thanksgiving Day. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

BCOF Prompt: Snow asked us about gratitude and what we are thankful this year.

I am going to combine these prompts. Thanksgiving Day is a special day. My husband and I spend it together. My son lives in Minnesota and won't be with us. I love eating turkey with all the trimmings and watching Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and watching the Dog Show. Christmas items are out the day after Halloween. This is rushing things. Will we someday skip Thanksgiving all together? Stores want all the money they can get and start Black Friday shopping early. We should enjoy each holiday as it comes and the day after, plan for the next one. Don't skip Thanksgiving. I love Jesus and Christmas but give thanks to Jesus and all the good things on Thanksgiving Day. We need to take Thanksgiving seriously and it is a day of thanks. I am thankful for a new President. President Trump. Don't boo me. I endured Obama for 8 years. We get a new start. My husband and I have had our health problems but we can still the things we want to do. I am thankful for friends and devoted family members, my cat, animals and having another year to give thanks.

I get the tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving. I put up my decorations. I buy gifts as I go. I don't go Black Friday Shopping. I do listen to Christmas music starting Nov. 1. We have Rock music, country and all kinds of music everyday so give Christmas music 2 months. Christmas shopping shouldn't start on Thanksgiving. The stores could set up Christmas displays November 15. These are my feelings about this.
