Bliss
On summer nights when my work is done,
And the breezes gently blow,
I like to watch the setting sun,
Down where the river flows.

I sit upon my favorite rock,
Down on the sandy beach
To all the trees and clouds I talk
A love of nature is taught by each.

Then finally when its very dark
And stars coming peeping through
The night owl takes the place of the lark,
While the noises are so few.

I leave this happy place of mine
And slowly tread my way
In the distant I hear the church bells chime
T'is the end of a perfect day.

Somehow to me a night like this
So quiet and cool and dark
Brings me happiness and bliss
In this lonely, haunted park.
