Apocalypse?
September 3rd 30 DBC Prompt: Creation Saturday! Pick an apocalyptic event, and tell us how you plan on surviving it.
Hmmm, apocalyptic....earth-shattering, horrific, inconceivable...A pandemic? A global war? An alien invasion ? A zombie attack? If any of these catastrophes should arise, I'd like to be hunkered down in a cave, spacious enough to accommodate my family and a gourmet kitchen. Yeah, I know, it would more likely be a firepit, but I can dream. Could I at least have a handful of dishes, pots, and cutlery?
In northern Ontario, the lakes, rivers, and trees would still be abundant. So, fresh water and firewood would be available. Local game, fruit, and veggies would sustain me. Basically, I'd live off the land, but my real apocalypse would be the complete loss, lack of doctors.
Gasp! This might be my personal disaster. I am a natural born klutz, accidents are me. Alas, my son has inherited this disposition, tendency, condition, illness, curse from me. Just recently in the brief span of three days, I have tripped and fallen twice. My apocalyptic future needs a doctor in it. No, not a doctor with a thesis, but an actual medical doctor capable of setting fractures, stitching wounds, and performing surgery if need be. He/she could help other survivors too.
Stocking my cave with non-perishables and such is simple. Finding a doctor is more problematic. Perhaps I could kidnap and hold hostage a doc. Even without the collapse of civilization, I' d keep him busy. I'm not so sure I could afford to hire one. My allowance is spent on bandages and pain relievers. This is drastic, but maybe I could marry a medical man. My current hubby would just have to agree to a divorce for the better good of everyone. He may need this doctor and my cave some day.He is free to wed a nurse, or paramedic.
