Grand Pa

Grandpa, your life was hard
But you came up with love
Grandpa your parents loved you
Both Mammy and Pap raised you well

You gave your service to your country
When times where at there hardest
You went in to World War Two
And came out a hero, twice hit.

You earned your Purple Hearts
And the Silver Star as well
You came home so decorated
You made your family proud

Grandpa you came home to Nan,
A woman who loved you dearly
She bore you seven children
Which you would raise real well

In the coal mines you worked
Killing your self so slow
You came down with Black Lung
And retired to be with your family

Grandpa you loved your grandchildren well
And grandpa they loved you as well
You were funny and lovable
You’ll never be forgotten.
