A glimpse into the MOST important relationship in my life! |
Originally written in December 2012} "Whatever you ask in my name, that I will do that the Father would be glorified through the Son" That is the first thing that ever jumped off the page for me as i was reading the Bible. I think I was in third grade. I had a new Bible. I was reading through it in Sunday School. I read that verse and became very excited. i could not believe it. It was amazing. I asked my Sunday School teacher what it meant. It seemed too good to be true. She told me it didn't mean what it said. That is a strange thing for a Sunday School teacher to tell a child about a verse in the Bible, isn't it. What does it mean? For years it simply meant tacking in Jesus' name on the end of my prayers. Well, actually, it meant a bit more than that for me. I would quote this verse and then I would ask for things in Jesus' name. I asked to do well on tests in school. I asked to not have to go back home one time when I was running away from home. I asked for God to intervene when I was being raped. I quoted the verse, the words I had read and I asked in Jesus' name . . . or did I? I came to have a deeper understanding of what this meant. In HIS stead. In HIS place. As HIS representative on this earth. It means more to me now than simply saying the words "In Jesus' name". Now it means standing in the gap, being His hands and feet, being in His place, representing Him and His desires. And so much more. I just added those last words. I do not know what they mean . . . yet. In JESUS' NAME. We can come boldly before the THRONE OF GRACE. Works. In the revelation given to John, JESUS says, "I know your works . . ." Works/Grace. Is it by our works or is it by grace? Where is the dividing line? What are we to do? In the words JESUS speaks to the churches in Revelation, it certainly sounds as though there is something for us to do. FATHER, help me understand this. Open my eyes, open my ears and touch my heart that I might see and hear and receive all that YOU have for me today. GOD, make me fully yours -- fully YOURS. That is the desire of my heart. I want to be YOURS. ~ ~ ~ JESUS is LORD! ~ ~ ~ |
