The Vampire, Vidal
By Lisa Noe
Daily Flash Fiction 3/3/16

It was under the cloak of darkness when the man sneaked into the bloodbankto steal several pints of the red liquid, which he consumed as he was a vampire. However, he was not an evil vampire, as he did not want to kill or harm anyone. Month by month he would travel from one blood bank to the next one and steal as many pints as he could carry. He lived in a stone castle, and traveled only by dark. One day a night guard was hired to watch for such break-ins and caught him red handed. “Please”, begged the vampire, who was known only by Vidal. “Do not turn me in, I am only trying to stay alive. I only steal what I need to sustain my life and no more.” "You have visited this bank three times in the past calendar year. If I continue to allow you to devour our blood then there will be none for the people who need it,” said the guard.
“But you, my good sir, could easily donate a pint every now and again certainly you could do this to save my life.” If I can find four people who can donate a pint each week of the month then I will help you.”
said the guard.

The guard spoke to guards from all of the various blood banks and each of them decided to donate as much blood as they could from themselves to help save Vidal’s life. Vidal was so grateful that he got a job at nights working at a mortuary where he was able to obtain even more blood from people who would no longer need it. He was a good vampire, there was no evil in him.
