The catch-all for items related to and/or inspired by the music that shaped me. |
This was written in the excitement for an eventual lyrics contest...I didn't intend to write anything; a Kings Of Leon song (don't ask me which one, I don't remember) came on and I stepped away for a smoke break, and some iteration of the opening line and chorus popped into my head and started rolling around. This is what came out of it. Of course, now that I think I can write again, it doesn't sound so great out loud, but it sounds awesome and Modest Mouse-ish in my head. Cut Your Teeth You weren't there when the devil got his start but you sure know enough about promoting his art and infinity is not the same as sanity but you've got your supply and I've got mine. These idle hands will waste a lot of time. You've got yours and I've got mine. Look out the window! Check under the rug! Where it all started isn't where you begun. Well, he's got a match and she's got a gun. I've got a pen and I've got a thumb. These idle hands will waste a lot of time. You've got yours and I've got mine. Bring on the militia! Call the National Guard! Gather 'round your drinkin' buddies and call to arms! Call to arms. Call to arms. Hug 'til it's illegal and no one's harmed. These idle hands will waste a lot of time. You've got yours and I've got mine. Blame it the church. Blame it on your parents. Where we come from, no one understands it. You're the seed; you're the belief. Even the devil had to cut his teeth. These idle hands will waste a lot of time. You've got yours and I've got mine. We give and live and love and forget and try and die and cherish regrets. These idle hands will waste a lot of time. You've got yours and I've got mine. We all have jobs that are never done and where we go ain't where we're from. Style/genre: Alternative Rock See also: "Bury Me With It" by Modest Mouse |
