Alright, I admit it: the previous blog post (which though meaningful, is poorly put across and unconvincing) was speculation.

That's what Self Help authors do, I think. The better-intentioned ones, at least. Granted it's not always the most helpful process, but it has it's selling points.

That said, I did try it for a while, and it worked, to a degree. It did inspire creative points of view and that motivating bite of discontent, which often instantly converted to a pleasant micro-success. (For those who don't want to subject themselves to that post, what I did was dwell on the word "better" as a mantra, to direct my attention to various useful things, like options and progress.)

Of course it had other effects. At times the focus wandered. Increased discontent is fantastic when it's something easily remedied, as it often is; however, sometimes my focus strayed outside my circle of influence. Which is to say: not all of the changes that occurred to me were readily changeable. Of course this is not something to be feared or avoided - but it is something to be aware of. Because this sort of thing is something that I don't normally do, I was not prepared and that tamped down my enthusiasm for the experiment, at least for the time being!

If I had kept this up until it became automatic, such as the requisite 21 days, I am sure that it would have made a fantastic difference in my life, would have tapped into that much vaunted 90% of my potential (I'm hoping it's actually 99%) that I've been 'saving for later.'
