Honoring Our Veterans
Moments Lost
By Lisa Noe
Once we were soldiers marching forth in war
Now we are but a shell of ourselves, our innocence is no more
War has left its lasting message sealed upon our hearts
Our heads are filled with memories of hell on earth that inparts
I can’t pretend it didn’t happen when I look around
I see all of my dying friends lying on the ground
They were my brothers strong and free
And now we are not what we used to be
Love of country must be strong
that is where my heart belongs
I lost but of a piece of myself, there in that God forsaken place
But I know it’s all been worth it when I see your loving face.
We are but fleeting moments lost in the Universe.
knowing full well that war is our curse.
if only we could reach out to each other's hand,
before we make that final stand!
