The Old shoes
By Lisa Noe
Stop!
Wait!
You’re killing me!
Too tight,
Too loose,
Never fitting just right.
You are never satisfied with me.
My leather is rough and I’ve had enough.
I’m worth a lot, I take you everywhere.
With me you dance, you walk all over the place.
My soles have holes,
My tongue is twisted,
You use me,
You abuse me,
But still I am here
Beneath you, step by step.
I walk with you,
Follow you every place that you go.
If it weren’t for me you’d rely on your toes.
I am a pair of old worn shoes
You’ll get a new pair
And I despair
For you’ll leave me behind
And that is unkind.
