Payback as Response or Reaction
When the reader hears the word 'payback,' the first thought usually tilts toward the negative. Somebody reacted badly, and decided to pay the offender in kind.
This involves dwelling on the event, magnifying the pain involved, and then scheming ways to make the guilty party feel the same.
Yet, the same process can be used for kindness. Think of things that people have done for you, how wonderful they are. Each time you think of them, emotionally it's as if they've been done again. Scheme about ways that you might do the same to your benefactor.
Each one will make you happy, and increase your love for your benefactor, even before you take any action! Then, during the release, you cement this in your character.
It is impossible to do a kind thing for a person without improving your esteem for that person. In order to keep people in your life, ask them to do things for you. In order to truly enjoy them — try paying them back seven fold!
You will discover an inner wealth 'pressed down and multiplied.'
