Does it make a difference?
What do you know now, that would have made a difference?

I know that I am powerful. Not necessarily in a good way. My words and actions have consequences, unforeseen. There are things that I can do. I can hurt people's feelings. I can win friends, influence people, even bend their destiny. I can derail a person's work situation. I can win a heart.

The point is that these are all things that seemed beyond me, which I have done unwittingly. As a result, I have not always been keen on the consequences.

This is the thing that I wish I knew. It is not power that corrupts. If you have power, you know you need to do right because your actions will have impact. But if you have none, then you can do whatever you feel like. No crime is time when nobody cares what you do.

Because I have fallen time and again to the trap of thinking I would have so little power, that it would be okay to do anything I felt.

So what I wish I had known all along: that my choices make a difference.
