Sunday and Monday

Severe weather alert
Another excessive heat warning
Temperatures rise past 110 degrees

Listen
to the air conditioner
singing its summer song.

I wonder
as I listen to the central air unit
if this excessive heat is a sign of global warming.

I take a deep breath

inhale
exhale

I quiet my mind
so that I can listen
to my muse.

A successful week
A week of discovery
A week of writing

The scent of coffee
Permeates morning's silence
Rousing both my mind and muse

With my wooden cane
I stand up straight when I walk
My back feels better

I don't want to be sixteen again,
I don't want to have those types of friends.
